With a little more than a month to go until the election, things are starting to heat up. Unfortunately for progressives, the conservatives have been on fire since that cold day in January 2009 when Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President.
They've gone about obstructing every last detail of his agenda, and have questioned everything from his religion to his place of birth to his very allegiance to the country he was overwhelmingly elected to lead...
AND THEYVE RAISED LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY to campaign against those in Congress who support him... according to today's New York Times, Republican leaning groups have outspent Democrats 7 to 1 for Senate races, and 4 to 1 on House races. The landmark Citizens United ruling has allowed corporations to dump untold amounts of money on candidates who will support their pro-business, pro-Wall Street, anti-labor agendas.
And then there are the good people who own fairly unbalanced Fox News. They dropped a million dollar money bomb on the Republican Governors Association. One might have thought running a 24/7 conservative propaganda network would have been enough.
If we never want to hear the title "Senator" attached to names like Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Ken Buck, or Joe Miller we have to attack it from the grassroots. They have the money, we have the vote...and going to the poll alone isn't going to do it. Money will drive Dick Armey's Tea Bag Express to the polls.....YOU need to drive a couple friends.
This idea is simple, free and something WE HAVE TO DO. Voter apathy loses midterms, and these 2010 midterms are possibly the most important in our lifetimes.
