Tomorrow, hundreds of thousands will be meeting on the mall in Washington. Unlike the world's highest rated conspiracy theorists' "Restoring Honor (To White People)" rally, it will be a truly diverse coalition of religious, labor, community, and minority groups. There will be no need to go trolling through the salt pile to find the peppercorn. The REAL faces of our country will be on display at every turn.
Of course, the march is already being branded as a gathering of Marxists, Communists, and even "Pro-Terrorists" by the right-wing echo chamber. True, there are some socialist organizations who are among the HUNDREDS of groups supporting "One Nation Working Together". However, as most of us with a 4th grade understanding of History know, this nation was founded explicitily to allow for the freedom of political and religious expression. THIS is what "freedom" really means, THIS is America.
This march has been reported to possibly be the largest since MLK's in 1963 and, unlike the 8/28 rally to restore fear, it will truly embody his noble spirit.
The Tea Party has taken over the national discourse for far too long. Tomorrow we get to take it back.
If you can't be there tomorrow, you can still help move our country forward by going to the polls on November 2nd........AND DON'T GO ALONE....make it......

The Race Is On
With a little more than a month to go until the election, things are starting to heat up. Unfortunately for progressives, the conservatives have been on fire since that cold day in January 2009 when Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President.
They've gone about obstructing every last detail of his agenda, and have questioned everything from his religion to his place of birth to his very allegiance to the country he was overwhelmingly elected to lead...
AND THEYVE RAISED LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY to campaign against those in Congress who support him... according to today's New York Times, Republican leaning groups have outspent Democrats 7 to 1 for Senate races, and 4 to 1 on House races. The landmark Citizens United ruling has allowed corporations to dump untold amounts of money on candidates who will support their pro-business, pro-Wall Street, anti-labor agendas.
And then there are the good people who own fairly unbalanced Fox News. They dropped a million dollar money bomb on the Republican Governors Association. One might have thought running a 24/7 conservative propaganda network would have been enough.
If we never want to hear the title "Senator" attached to names like Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Ken Buck, or Joe Miller we have to attack it from the grassroots. They have the money, we have the vote...and going to the poll alone isn't going to do it. Money will drive Dick Armey's Tea Bag Express to the polls.....YOU need to drive a couple friends.
This idea is simple, free and something WE HAVE TO DO. Voter apathy loses midterms, and these 2010 midterms are possibly the most important in our lifetimes.

Why This Is Here
Welcome to youplus2.blogspot.com.
This blog exists to promote the simple idea that on November 2nd, 2010, when liberals/progressives/democrats go out to vote......they bring two like-minded folks along.
This blog exists for the unemployed, underemployed, and those struggling to keep their heads above water. It's for those of us who can't afford to give $5 to a political campaign but fear what a Republican majority in Congress might bring.
Democrats may have not done enough, but a semblance of health care and Wall St. reforms have been enacted. They have supported social safety nets, such as unemployment extensions, in the face of conservative obstruction.
Should the Republicans take power in November, they will promote an agenda to repeal of any of the advances that have been made for the common good in the past two years. They will seek to put social security in the hands of Wall St. banksters, dramatically change Medicare, and promote the tired old concept of "trickle down economics" (which should be viewed by the middle class the way a fire hydrant sees a dog with a full bladder).
We dont have the shady financial backing that a "peoples movement" like the Tea Party has. What we do have is a mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin, ex-coworker, friend that has seen what we're going thru that can be brought to the polls with us.
You Plus Two.
It's easy to remember, it even RHYMES. Facebook it, tweet it, put it on a yard sign, write it on the bathroom wall! (vandalism not condoned or recommended) Spread the word!!
The Tea Party wants to take the country "back", we want to move it FORWARD.
